What kind of test has to be performed to find out whether your oil seals are worn or your piston rings are worn without opening up the engine and doing it on a trial and error basis

Hi there,

A quick test to prove the rings is a wet & dry comp test, do a normal hot engine comp test and not the readings, then add a small amount of oil to the cylinder and re test, the oil will seal up the rings and if the comps are some what higher you will have faulty rings, start here.
