I'm thinking about purchasing a 1993 Mercedes 300SE 126k on the clock. The only problem right now is the rear passager door is stuck. This door willn't open. I wanted to know what's keeping stuck before I buy it. The transmission was replaced in 1996 by Mercedes. What else should I look out for before nose diving into this vehicle. I believe the car does have the soft close feature, but it's no longer working. When should the timing chain be replaced in this vehicle. What's the average cost of this to be done?

Thanks

I'm looking to purchased before jan 15 2010. Today is jan 13 2010.

1. Rear passenger door lock stuck: could be a wiring problem, rotary tumbler micro switch, closing assist micro switch, infrared remote control unit and the PSE control module

2. What to look-review the maintenance record, look for leaks and excessive smoke out of the exhaust, engine knocking noises-steering handling

3. The only time you should be concern with the timing chain if there's noises coming from the timing chain cover-could be stretch or a defective chain tensioner
