1989 Mercedes Benz 300e Neutral Safety Switch Repalcement

1989 Mercedes Benz 300e 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 148,00 miles

Where is neutral Safety switch located and what is involved in replacing it?

Switch is located on the left (driver's) side of the transmission where the shift linkage attaches. You will have to remove the linkage arm to replace the switch. These rarely go bad. Why are you changing it? Please advise.

I was able to start car in neutral but not park, now it wont start at all. So I looked at the switch yesterday and part of it is broken off and isnt catching when you shift. Thanks for the info .
