2002 Mercedes Benz 220cdi alarm problem.
Electrical problem
2002 Mercedes Benz 220cdi 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 137777 miles
When I lock my Mercedes 220cdi (02) with fob the
hazard lights flash 3 times and then continue to flash
rapidly until I press open. If I then leave the car it will
lock itself and after a few minutes the alarm will come on. I have tried locking it with the emergency
key (which only locks drivers door) but alarm still comes on. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Pat.

This sounds like a failed rear SAM module. The Signal Acquisition Module or SAM controls things such as central locking, taillights, fuel level etc. When this fails central locking (alarm) functions will become irratic. Alarm will set off by itself , is a common syptom. Often times the fuel gauge begins to read incorrectly as well. Have you noticed your fuel gauge not reading properly? And as you mentioned taillight function will also become quite irratic. The SAM is the brain for the central locking and alarm system and with the inability to think your vehicle is going a little crazy.
