Replace the positive crankcase ventilation valve-PCV valve-its flowing backwards

I understand from others that the problem may more likely be bad rings that are allowing compression into crankcase. The engine surges when diriving slowly, not as noticeable on the road.

Could be that you have an excessive blow-by and the PCV valve cannot handle it.

Thanks, That is what a mechanic told me today, he said excessive blow back.

I was looking at the truck to buy for my son as a 2nd veh. So he could park his dodge 1500 gas hog. Shame it has this problem cause the little truck is in choice condition otherwise. Guess I will let it go! Can't afford a rebuld job or replacement engine which probably would not be any better. From the looks of other posts the 89 2.2 wasn't a very reliable engine to begin with.

Replace the PCV valve its cheap-I did a B2200 86-way back with a lot of blue smoke and when I changed it- it helps.
