Electrical problem
1987 Mazda RX7 Two Wheel Drive Manual 147254 miles

My car has a unique problem. The car will almost start when turned over when all the proper lines are installed and electrical connectors plugged in. However, when the air flow meter is removed from the snorkel to the turbo if given a little throttle it will run for a few seconds before dying. I have checked the AFM to specs with the factory service manual and have correct fuel pressure and spark and compression. The computer reads correct voltage and the crank angle sensor is sending signals for spark and fuel. What is going on here?

Have you checked for vacuum leaks like maybe an EGR valve stuck open or brake booster vacuum hose disconnected? If there is TOO much air coming from somewhere other than where it's supposed to, the air flow sensor will be lying to the PCM about how much air is coming into the engine. Try that first. Check all vacuum lines and the EGR valve. If you find one leaking, repair it and then try again. Hope this helps. If not, repost and I'll help again if I can.
