I was driving and my battery light came on. I was close to home so I waited to get home to stop. When I parked a large amount of steam rose from the hood. I popped the hood and my antifreeze overflow was rapidly boiling. I believe I replaced the thermostat about 18 mos ago. What could be the problem?

First of all thank you so much for your donation. Let's start with why your battery light is on. That could be the same reason your car is overheating. Check and see if your drive belt is tight. Also do you have a multimeter?

You will use the multimeter to do some testing. See if the engine start's if it won't crank have the battery charged and tested. If it does start see what the voltage reading is at idle at the battery. Let me know what you find.
