Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Mazda Protege 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 90K miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
02 Mazda Protege5. My wife had an alternator belt failure and the car ran hot. I have since replaced both V belts for good measure and refilled the radiator. Engine oil is fine. When I attempt to crank the car the engine turns and turns but does not start. All fuses are ok. Other things I'm looking into.... What is the sensor at the end of the crankshaft pulley and what does it look like? Which relay is in the fuel pump circuit? None of the realys in the main fuse box in engine compartment are labeled fuel. And of course any suggestions or directions I should take? Thanks!!

Hi lightning_med,

Siince the engine overheated, I would be more concerned about the cam angle sensor as it is on top and would be more prone to fail due to high temperature.

Check for sparking at spark plugs, if available, then only you look for fuel problem.
