Help!!! My 1999 Protege is stalling its brains out. It was running fine until yesterday evening, when I fuelled up from near empty. She ran fine for about 30 minutes of driving after that, then she hesitated, like she was about to run out of gas again, then stalled. Thing is, when I restart the car, the engine turns over just fine, then it might run for about 3 or 4 seconds or up to a minute at random times, but it will sputter all the while through. During this time, the battery and oil lights will flicker intermittently until the engine quits. When the engine quits, I get a clicking noise that sounds like the fuel pump disengaging. When this happens, I can turn the key and the engine will restart, but for how long, anyone knows. Is it possible that there may be water in the gas, or am I looking at a fuel pump that's about to give up the ghost?
