Mazda MX3 clutch and transmission

Several weeks ago my brother and I attempted to replace the clutch in his 1993 Mazda MX3. It is a 5 speed and has 200,000 miles. Everything was working except the clutch when he parked it. What we thought would be a fairly simple job turned out to be a disaster. We ended up taking the car to a nearby mechanic because it would not go into gear. The mechanic replaced the master and slave cylinders. Yesterday I drove the car 30 miles or so and had to park it. There was some sort of scrubbing noise coming from the front drivers side tire whenever the wheel was turned. Suddenly the car begin vibrating extremely bad and we pulled over. After checking to be sure the tire wasn't scrubbing or anything we put it in reverse but it felt like the brakes or something locking up and the car wouldn't go in reverse. Could I have put something in wrong or is it more likely that something else is broken?

Sounds liek you should have that transmission cheked out again. Did you undo any other bolts other than the drain plug and the fill hole (speedo gear)?
