1989 Mazda Millenia Slow accelleration

1989 Mazda Millenia 6 cyl Automatic

When I put the car in drive it starts very slow. Even if I give it a lot of gas it has no pick up. When it switches gears it takes off and runs great until I slow down again. What do I need to check first?

If the transmission is not slipping-do below:

Inspect and test all the following listed below:

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
