1993 Mazda Miata turns over but won't start

My miata cranks fine but just won't start. It did this once before and I had it towed to a shop. After it sat for a couple of days it started, the shop could not determine any problem. I've checked fuses and they are OK. It kinda acts like its gonna start but no luck.? Can a fuel pressure regulator cause this?Or is it most likely the fuel pump?

Help! I have the same issue with my Miata as well. I'm not mechanically inclined but can't pour endless $$$ into it to "hunt" for the problem.
