Engine Performance problem
1992 Mazda b2200 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

i have a mazda 1992 b2200 with 228000 kms. this started about two weeks ago. it starts ok but idles high. when you give it fuel it wants to die. let the fuel go and it reves high again. we did a fuel pressure test, a compression test on all cylinders, and a vacuum test and everything is fine. we also changed the fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve and spark plugs. i had it at the garage and the mechanic couldn't find the problem either. please help.

I would check the idle speed control valve. Simply unplug it and measure the resistance across the terminals on the valve. The resistance should be 7.7 to 9.3 ohms at or near 73 degrees. Here is a pic of the valve. Also clean the the throttle body and throttle plate with throttle body cleaner. Let me know what you find.

OK you will have to wait till it screws up again to test it. When it does do the test and let me know what you find and we will go from there.

Ok test the coolant temp sensor. Just unplug it and use an ohm meter and ohm the sensor (not the wire harness). If you do this when it is cold then get me the reading and the air temp at the the time of the test. If this tests good then we will check the TPS next.
