I have a mazda 99 626 automatic transmission. The mileage is 39300. It went dead while driving. Lights were on. I stopped the car with the hand brake putting it in neutral and tried to start but wouldn't. Next day, checked battery, fuses, hoses, belts. All were fine and I cranked but did not start. I got cranking noise. What could be the problem? Yesterday also I cranked, but the car is not taking life.

It sounds like what my 626 did not too long ago. I was just driving along one day and the car died on the interstate. Luckily I was near the exit. I immediately replaced the battery. Which of course only lasted a couple hours. It turns out the lower serpentine belt, which runs the alternator, had just fallen off. Thus No alternator, no battery, no juice.

I hope your problem is this simple.
