2001 Mazda 626 check engine light
2001 Mazda 626 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 101000 miles
a couple of weeks ago, the check engine light came on, then off, then on, then off. last week it came on again, so i brought to EZ Lube for an oil change and was told that my gas cap wasn' t on tight & that that was probalby the problem. i am also having problems with sluggish starting from a stop position. today, as i was pulling into the garage after driving for 30 minutes, the light came back on & won't go out. do you think that i can safely drive to a repair shop to have this checked out? do you having any suggestions as to what this could be?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis,finding out what's going on.
