1997 Mazda 323 brake light

My driver side (uk) break light is not working. I have replaced the bulb of appropriate wattage with one I know to be working but no joy. Although naive with electrics the wiring that I can see leading into the housing looks fine. What should I do next?

What about the directional ?
we know the brake switch is good because the other side working find
I would suspect bulb socket
and or wiring
check for a good ground at the socket

need manual CHECK IT @
