1990 Mazda 323 Replacing rear drums, shoes, and wheel cylin

the shoes don't fit properly against the wheel cylinder and I'm not able to place the drum over the shoes because they are miss aligned. There is about half inch or slightly less distance between the left shoe and metal that the shoe should fit on the wheel cylinder. The right side is pressing into the cylinder almost equally so which is the mis aligned scenario. How to do I remedy this situation?

Insert a screwdriver and twist, this will release the adjustment and allow you to install the drum, then use the parking brake a few times to adjust the rears...
