I was driving down the highway and the AC was on, then suddenly this mist or something that looked like steam started coming out of the vents. I shut it off. I used it a couple times since then and keep smelling this maple syrup kind of smell. There is also this recurring spot of what seems to be water vapor that keeps appearing right infront of me on the winshield and is even hard to wipe off. My car has no heat but it never has since I bought it 2 months ago, but this problem just started 2 days ago. Just wondering what the problem could be and if this mist is dangerous at all. Also if repairing on my own how long this would take to fix.

Your heater core went and is forcing coolant vapor to enter the cabin through the vents. I wouldn't suggest driving for that long as the vapor isn't good for you. If you must drive it for any length of time, drain the coolant and replace with pure water, water vapor is just annoying, not harmful. As for the time for repair, you have to take the dash board off to access the heater core so it is quite time consuming.
