Transmission problem
1998 Lincoln Town Car V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Changing tranny fluid and filter on my dads town car, its a 1998 4.6 with the good tranny with the hump in pan. When removing the fluid I made a wave back and forth to remove as much fluid as possible. Found a plasic part which looks like a bullet shaped fishing bobber with O-ring and stem. Please tell me where this needs to go so I don't kill tranny.

Extra parts are to be hidden, then thrown away when no one is looking! :)

Hi hookburn63. Welcome to the forum. That part was installed in the dipstick tube during assembly of the transmission to keep dirt out. It is really meant to be thrown away during the first service of the transmission.
