Hello. I have a 1989 Lincoln Town Car (base series) with only 51,000 orginal miles. Obviously the car had been sitting up for a while. I have recently had EGR problems. That was fixed but was told I had a bad carbon build up. Besides BG 44, which I can not find anywhere, are there any products you can recommend? The car does not seem to have anything else wrong with it, maybe a little loss of power, but with 51,000 milies, what general maintenance needs to be performed to ensure "like new" engine performance? Any and all comments welcomed!! Thanks, TREY

I own this car. Instead of BG44 get same product under the Lucas name. As far as maintenance, when you change oil, ensure that you or garage is removing both front and rear drain plug from pan. I would recommend getting a transmission fluid change soon, don't skimp, have them remove pan and filter as this will prolong life of trany. Replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, replace plugs with same as factory installed, don't let them sell you a platinum plug, not worth the money. Use best plug wires you can afford and make sure you put wires back through the looms. Air filter of course. Check all vacuum lines. Probably will need belts, check for cracks on back of them. Check water hoses for splits, cracks. This car will get around 25-29 mpg on freeway and around 17-19 in city and should run out well above 200K.
