2003 Other Lincoln Models Gear Shift Was Loose

Transmission problem
2003 Other Lincoln Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 78000 miles

Hello...

I pulled up to my daughter's school today, came to a stop and shifted into park. As i shifted, I noticed it felt very loose and my car would have rolled if did not apply the brake (and parking brake).

I also could not restart the car.

I called AAA and he looked underneath and apparently snapped a cable back into place (something about the gear shift cable coming loose).

He said I should be okay, but I should take it in soon so it doesn't happen again.

Have you heard of this before? What should i do?

there may be a clip that holds the cable in place or from the use over the years may have worn it's mounting a little. Take it in an dhave it checked, the mechanic may be able to tighten it up or there may be a tech service bulletin for a different clip that holds it better.
