The car wont shut off even with the key turned and removed. Pulled a fuse to shut it off. Car has an aftermarket remote stater that hasnt been used since we got the car. Should I start by unhooking the remote starter and if that doesnt work replace the ignition switch? Any other ideas on what the problem could be. My wife has the car a couple of states away right now and Im hoping I can talk her through fixing it.

My wife says that the key turns the same as it did before and everything stays on when the door is open and it makes the noise that it usually does when the key is still in the car and the door is opened. Also she mentioned that the doors wont stay locked even after removing the key.

Ok she has replaced fuse and had to jump start car since dash screen and lights stay on. The car started no problem with jump start. Then she turned key off and turned key back on and car killed. She removed key but once again everything stays on like car is running and doors wont stay locked. Thanks so much for your replies especially on a holiday. If I have to send her to a mechanic it would be helpful having an idea of the problem. She seems to always get talked into expensive repairs when she goes to one.
