I recently did a BTR Stage 3 cam on my car listed above with a gen 3 lm7. I also did rockers with rebuilt Triunion's, valve springs, and pushrods that are 7.400 in length. For your lm7 rebuild, I was wondering if the lifters were stock cup height or lifters for a newer motor (ls7) Also would the lifters you purchased work with my pushrods? Thank you for your time.

Alex,

I am going to forward your post to the people creating the videos. I wanted to give you a heads up. That's why you haven't received a response yet.

If you don't hear from them (which you should), let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks for watching the video. For those that see this post and are interested in this video series, here is a link to it:

I don't see the exact answer to your questions, so I am going to get Ryan, who is in the video, to jump on and answer that so that we are sure to get you the correct info on what he used.

Please allow a little bit of time for him to respond but I will ask right now.

Thanks again.

Hey there! Thanks so much for watching the series!

So, on that the lifters we used were completely to stock specifications for a LM7.

They should work with your pushrods unless it is specified that they would not. What part number are you using for the pushrods?

Thanks again for using 2CarPros!

Pushrods were included with the BTR cam kit. 5/16 Chromoly 7.400” pushrods with.080 wall thickness.

I am planning on doing my lifters, so I was going to use the link in your description of your YouTube video to get the same ones you had bought since they are stock. I really appreciate the information.

Also, for the head gasket you were using, are the coolant passages supposed to be that small compared to the ones on the block?

I can answer that part. Yes. Most head gaskets are cut to have a smaller hole than what is in the head or block as they usually can fit more than one engine or even multiple years. So, they are made to the smallest one.

So, what we need to do is put the gasket up to the block and then trim the gasket back so that it is a perfect size for the engine you are putting it on. What I do is put a small piece of rag in the passage to block any fibers from falling in (even though they would be okay) then just use a razor blade and trim the gasket to the correct size.

It is okay if the gasket opening is slightly larger than the passage but we need to trim it back if it is smaller, so we don't restrict flow.

So, on the video that Ryan did for the lm7, did they just not show them trim the gasket?

I think he got all these parts from Summit so more than likely they had some for this exact year LM7 with the correct size passage.

There are gaskets out there that are for each specific block, but most will build to fit the masses which require trimming. Think of it like a "universal" gasket for all LM7/LS engines.

So, while he didn't trim them it is either because he did it off camera or didn't have too.

This is a very common practice when blueprinting an engine. Basically, you are making every part you put on fit as perfect as possible.

Hey there!

Those lifters will work perfectly fine with your pushrods.

As for the head gasket, we did not trim anything. Just took them out of the packaging and put them on the engine facing the correct orientation. They worked great!

Thanks again for using 2CarPros!

Best,
Ryan
