Lexus 2000 ES 300 CHECK ENGINE AND TRAC OFF LIGHT

Why do the check engine symbol and the words 'trac off' light up on the instrument panel, please? Have done only about 48000 miles in almost 7 years!

I have the same problem - both lights came on together on May 15th, Car runs the same as before the lights came on. The lights have not gone out. I had just turned over 107777 miles. Stoped to pick up something. Started the car a couple of minutes later and the lights came on. I have never had any light come on - the car has been trouble free, until this. If you get any infromation I would like to know!

Your going to have to get the codes from the computer to speculate or begin troubleshooting. May be as simple as a speed sensor or wiring harness.
