Dash lights go out when I turn on the front headlights

This started tonight. The dashboard lights will be on, but when I turn on the front headlights they go off so I can't see anything on the inside and I have to use a flashlight. Everything else like the radio works. But not the lights. Anyone know whats wrong?

I am the same problem with a 1999 Lexus GS300. If the light switch is in off or auto during the day then the dash board lights work but if I turn on the lights to the first or 2nd position then the dashboard lights go out. I would suspect a relay problem. Anyone have a answer?

Turn on your headlights, then try to adjust the light brightness. My 96 ES300 does the same thing. Turn up light brightness, should go away.
