Engine Cooling problem

I need to know why my engine light is on and white or gray smoke comes out the exhaust tailpipe at times. Was in the shop last week and can't tell what was done,they claim that there is nothing wrong with the car.

You need to have it scanned for OBD1 code/s the computer has identified a problem within the engine management this is your starting point to find out what's wrong. As for the smoke sounds more like its running rich
