1992 Lexus ES 300 Maintenance and high idle

This car has been garaged and driven very little, always maintained per schedule. But, it is 16 years old but the mileage is truly 57k. It seems to be running high on the rpms lately. It passed the smog test last week, but was just below max on HC (PPM) and NO when run at 15 MPH.
For prevention purposes, what can I have my mechanic do to keep the car in good running order and not wait for something to "break"?

Hi bjh1,

If the car is mothballed, there is nothing you can do to prevent anything from giving way.

Cars are not made to be stored, drving is necessary to keep it in running condition and keeping it stationary over long periods will have a lot of things deteriorate, especially the rubber parts.
