Engine Performance problem
1993 Land Rover Freelander Four Wheel Drive Manual

My freelander has just started to act up, when I change from second to third or from third to fourth gear the engine seems to lose power and starts to jerk alittle and nearly comes to a stand still. Then the car starts to pick up speed again. This can happen on an incline or on a straight road.I have half a tank of petrol in the car as one friend suggested I might not have enough fuel in, but this cant be the case as I never have lower that half tank of fuel in, at any time. There is no blue or black smoke of any kind coming from exhaust.
