My Kia has previously had issues, but now if I don't let it warm up and start driving, it chokes out and acts like it's going to die. Today I let it warm up, drove halfway to work & stopped at a gas station, when I reversed out of my parking spot and stopped it again acted like it was going to die. I have been told this may be the beginning of the end of my transmission - can anyone verify that or could it be something else?

Could be one of the following:
Oygen sensor
Catalytic converter
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
