Engine mechanical problem
1997 Kia Sportage Four Wheel Drive Automatic 171000 miles

i have a 1997 Kia Sportage that just decided not to start anymore. i replaced the battery, and that did not help. when you turn the key, you get power, lights, everything, but the engine just clicks like the battery is dead. it's not the fuel pump or timing belt, those were just replaced. i tried jump starting it, and that will make the car run. the minute i turn it off and try to start it again, i get nothing.

Have alternator tested. Sounds like alternator is dead.

have your starter motor wires checked ... the clicking is the starter solonoid ..possibly a bad connection or starter motor is failing .. once you get the car running again .. do not turn it off straight away, let it run so you can check alternator for chargeing as bluelightnin6 has said ?
