2003 Kia Spectra engine light, car dead after 20 miles
Engine Mechanical problem
2003 Kia Spectra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 42820 miles
engine light came on. car died after 20 miles. smoke from hood. suspect oil needed changed. different oil (Pensoil) when last changed, had Kendel. I know it's my fault for not checking oil level sooner, but what are my options now?

Changing oil brands won't hurt anything. However, if there was no oil in the engine, that is a different question.
Was the oil empty? Did the engine overheat? will the engine start now that it has cooled down? If it doesn't start, will the starter turn the engine?
