Teh fan/air was running and then the fan stopped and started again.

Are you refering to the heater blower motor or the radiator cooling fan?

hearter. It's funny, it will blow and then stop and when I touch the switch to turn it off and tehn on again it just starts back up. Could it be a short in the switch itself

Based on what you just described, yes. I would replace the switch.
