I recently had my oil changed at a shop. The day after I heard a tapping noise followed by the check engine light coming on. I took it back to the place that changed the oil who said I have a minor cylinder problem. I then took it to the dealership where I brought it to see if I had a warranty. They put a product called heavy duty zmax in it without draining some of the oil out of my engine. Shortly after that I heard a pop and the my engine started to rattle. I want to know is did the zmax cause my engine to throw a rod?

Based on what I read on the product, it shouldn't have caused this to happen. Did you request that they use it? Also, has the dealer pointed a finger saying that they felt the product caused it? If so and they can prove it, I would get in touch with the zmax company and explain what happend and demand they repair the vehicle. If there is no way to prove it, then there really isn't too much that can be done. Perhaps the oil change place will help, especially if you didn't request the product be used.
