Would like to know the odds of the metal from the teeth of the distributer causing future problems and how would you handle the repair. Also what to look or listen for in the future!

Those pieces will be still in there hoping it will make it all the way to the crankcase-Best bet drop the oil pan and clean out as much of it. In the future-pay attention to tapping/clicking/thumping and thudding noises-meaning it made its way to the bearings/lifters etc.
