2005 Jeep Wrangler mechanic scam

I have a 2005 jeep with 14000 miles..I drove it all winter in maine,It has been sitting on a tar driveway ,OFF and ON since april,,I drove it ,,maybe once every two weeks..I went to have it inspected and it failed because the rotos had rust on them,,,he said they could'nt be turned or cleaned..they were gone,,,HE SAID,,,,was I taken?,,It seems they could have been turned..

Well I don't know the Inspection Laws in Maine.

Most vehicles have some rust were the Pads don't touch. If yours had rust were the pads ride then maybe thats why it failed. But you could have just driven it around braking frequently it would clean it.

As long as the rotors didn't have any deep grooves and had enough metal to turn them and still be within specs they should have been able to turn them to clean them up.

Did you consider taking it to another shop?

i agree. if the brakes are working fine and dont pulsate then theres nothing to worry about. your rotors are going to rust up again from lack of usage so dont fall for it again.
