A few weeks after my 30,000 service, the check engine light came on, stayed on for 3 warm-up cycles and went off for a week, then came on for 3 more warm-up cycles and went off 3 days ago. The light comes on at ignition, not after the vehicle is operating wthout the light. The light does not blink.

What could cause this behavior? Do I need to get it scanned while the light is on? For how long (how many warm-up cycles) will the codes be stored?
