HISTORY:
1 YEAR + When turning key to start, occasionally car would not start or even turn over. instead, on accessory, dash lights would turn on then when turned to full start position, it would appear to lose all power. except gauges would "tick" back and forth. giggling the battery cables/connections would sometimes fix...or, sometimes would require a light "tap with hand or screwdriver. eventually, connection would be alright and car would start. happened most when eng. warm, but sometimes on cold start too.
PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS - previous issue has not been as frequent, but slow to start. would only have to turn key once and would not require giving gas to start, but engine would turn over a few times before fully running.
NOW - will not start. first issue w/ gauges ticking on dash occurs (ticking is the gauges going back and forth- only one initial "click" under the hood when key turned).

WHAT WE'VE CHECKED ALREADY:
- cleaned ground cable connection to firewall- battery connectors cleaned/no corrosion
- replaced negative battery connector
- 2004 battery- but, shows fully charged on volt-meter. however, will not accept a trickle charge (just beeps when hooked up to charge, indicating already has full charge). voltage normal on meter.

ANY ADVISE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. WE'RE HOPING FOR A DIY FIX, AS TIMES ARE TOUGH RIGHT NOW. LIVE ON FARM W/ FULL ACCESS TO MANY TOOLS & EQUIPMENT- BUT, NEED FAIRLY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON PROPER USE FOR MORE ADVANCED REPAIRS/TROUBLESHOOTING. LOOKING FORWARD TO ANY RESPONSE ON WHERE TO GO FROM HERE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME! THIS SITE IS BY FAR THE BEST ON AUTO REPAIR.

THANKS AGAIN.
