Hello. I bought a 1997 jeep wrangler sport manual trans. When ever I stop at a light or slow down to a slow speed the oil pressure guage goes down to zero. This causes the check guages light to come on. I read other forums that said it might be the sending unit. Do you have any ideas before I take it to a mechanic or before I buy a new sending unit? What would be the worse case senario?

Hi there.

Wost case is an engine re build as the bearings are failing, but as there is no reported bearing noise, i would get the engine oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge to see what the actual pressure is, if it is OK, the sender will be at fault.
