I put a new battery in it, and within 5 weeks the battery started dying if I left the car sitting for 2-3 days, when I recharged the battery I would get lights and radio, and the engine would click but not turn over.

What model Jeep? Usually the clicking sound is because there isn't enough voltage to keep the relay closed. Whether that is the battery or cables? Did you have the charging system checked? You could have a battery drain? You could check the vehicle in the dark, see if there are any lites on, anywhere, interior--glove box-- under the hood--in the trunk. Check the drain, see if it is excessive, pull fuses, one at a time, when you pull the fuse on the affected circuit, the drain should go down.

It is a 1999 jeep grand cherokee limited edition. The funny thing is after charging it, I could not get it to start. Clicking noise happened no turn over. I went out about 36 hours later and the car started.

With the key in the crank position, you may have to check for voltage at the starter field terminal. Any testing, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set. If there is good voltage, make sure all the grounds are ok.
