Im trying to remove my fan clutch so I can replace the water pump, but I am having a hard time getting it off and I want to scream.I rented a fan clutch removal set from advance auto parts, and I put the right wrench on the nut and the water pump pulley spins in circles whether the serpentine belt is on or off.I bought one of those rubber strap wrenches? To hold the water pump pulley and still nothing, is there something im doing wrong, what can I do to get this fan clutch off any suggestions?

Is there 2 holes in the front of the water pump pulley? If so there is another tool to hold it. If not are you trying to turn it the correct direction to remove it? To remove the fan clutch you should be trying to turn it counter clockwise as viewed from the front. If that still wont work there are some fan wrenches that use an air hammer to jar the nut loose, Sometimes they just get stuck on there. You can even try hitting the end of the wrench with a hammer to jar it loose with the belt on
