1970 Other Jeep Models wont fire

1970 jeep DJ 5.
the engine will turn over, but wont fire. I replaced the plugs and the coil. The coil wont spark. I then wired the coil straight to the battery an there was still no spark. I then tried this with the old coil with no success.

i dont know if this will help you, but the 67-70 DJ's used the same engine as the 70 4cyl novas.

If it has points and condenser, replace them, if it has the HEI system, replace the module and the rotor. Also, watch the distributor while someone cranks the motor, and make sure it turns.
