I was leaving work this evening when I put my vehicle in drive and notice it was not want to go. It was wanting to cut off. It was lurching forward like it was trying to get gas to the engine. My check engine light came on then. I went to the service station and check my oil. I notice that my oil was very very very low. I put 3 quarts in it and started it, but my light was still on. I drove it home and waited 5mins and checked the oil level and it was safe. I just had my oil changed not even 3 months ago. I started my car and the check engine light was not on. I waited 30 mins and started it again and was going to take it for a test spin. It started sputtering again like it wanted to shut off. What do you think is the problem?????

Hi:
It could be many things. If the check engine light was on, there should be a code set in the computer. I recommend having the computer scanned for codes. Most parts stores will scan for free if you can get it there. Once you get the code, it will identify where the problem is coming from. If you can't get the car there, call a nationally recognized parts store and ask if they lend or rent tools. Tell them you need to scan the computer on your jeep and they will know what scanner to give you.

Let me know what you find.
