1983 CJ7, I6, automatic on column will not start by ignition key. If I turn ignition to on and jump the solenoid on the fenderwell with 2 screwdrivers it will then start. Solenoid is very new. Vehicle has been in storage for 3 years. When I put CJ in storage 3 years ago it started with the ignition key and I drove it to storage. My son shot a few blasts of PB penetrating oil into the ignition switch (for what reason I don`t know) I think he had the wrong key and the switch wouldn`t turn. Thank you guys, I do appreciate it. Phil.

Have you looked at the ignition switch to see if the key properly actuates the switch into position. You can always check to see if you recieve voltage at the S terminal on the starter relay while attempting to crank the engine. If there is not 12V then the ignition switch is at fault. If there is voltage then the relay (solenoid on the fender) is faulty or the starter solenoid.
