Last friday night I went four wheeling and went through some pretty deep mud/water holes. The first part of the night I had no problems with the motor stalling at all. towards the end of the night I was winching another jeep out and the motor stalled and would'nt start unless the key was off and the neddle went down to the empty mark, the the motor would fire back up for another 30 seconds or so. I checked the gas for water but only saw slight swirling in the gas it did'nt seen be enough cause any problems. I look foward to your ideas. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check the fuel pressure the fuel pump could be on its way south, also inspect the fuel filter.

Or next time it stalls don't play with the key-immediately do below to determine if its fuel or spark issue then report back

Get a carb cleaner and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
