See my profile, I possess a 1979 AMC service manual (The real Jeep Bible, for all Jeep Rigs that year and most years nearby, also). Tells all, general, operation...including diagnosis and repairs. Just a very light summary on Quadratrac: Emergency Drive is used ONLY,ONLY,ONLY to get out of some BAD $HIT (When wheels are spinning, locks FRT and REAR together)....And immediatly returned to NORMAL 4 WD, when out of Toilet Situation. Cannot have wheel motion, when you engage it. Lever beside seat: Up----High range Middle----Neutral....To tow your rig Down----Low range From high to low----release accelerator pedal...shift into Neutral between 10-15 MPH......into Low BELOW 5 MPH From low to high---release accelerator pedal 15-20 MPH, shift to Neutral between 5-10 MPH....then into high. BOTH CASES---Vehicle must be moving, sorta push on thru neutral as you shift.....unless you are about to tow him. Can and will help you on any other CJ stuff, I know my stuff. Reply? Love, Turddog
