Electrical problem
1978 Jeep CJ7 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

I also have a problem with my lights flashing at night when turned on. I have changed the headlight switch, and checked the wires. When I turn on the lights they work for about 5 seconds and then flash, there is a clicking sound inside the switch. Also, there is an orange wire hanging from the switch but I cant seem to figure out where it goes. My Chit manual isnt clear as to what wire is what. Any additional help?

Until now, I used to write personal, fun, but always accurate, correct answers. Mainly because I am still recliner bound, for almost a year, due to a severe injury to my foot at work. This is/was my way to cope and I get paid absolutely nothing to do it. Without further extensive testing, which I can and will talk you thru, if need-be to prove or disprove this. My gut feeling is you need to CHECK dimmer switch connector for pushed back or bad connectors at connection to actual dimmer switch/ connector replacment may fix

THIS IS PASTED FOR EASIER CORRESPONDENCE. JUST FOR YOU TURDDOG. LOL I apologize for not responding turddog. I wanted to exhaust your advice before replying that I hit a wall. I went through all my grounds that were visable (each headlight, light switch which I replaced, dimmer switch which I replaced due to corrosion (sp) and rusted and applied lubricant on the male terminals.) Yes I am still in the dark. As inexperienced as I am I really appreciate your help. I dont want to wear out my "welcome" so to say but would appreciate any other ideas. It has been suggested that maybe my charging system is not right. Last month I replaced the alternator and battery. (She really is a work of art in progress) Would the voltage regulator have that kind of impact?
