I have been having problems with my jeep overheating recently. I replaced the thermostat and the water pump and then the top radiator hose blew off, so I replaced that. Also I noticed a small leak in the inlet side of the radiator. I put radiator stop leak in it and it seemed to have fixed it. Then I was drivign it and the temp light came on again so I pulled over I heard a hissing sound on the inlet side of the radiator and then all of a sudden it blew up! The end of the radiator just blew off!! I just bought a new radiator thinking that maybe the old one was clogged but im hoping this will fix it. Do you think there could be other problems making it overheat like this? Thanks so much for your insight.

My thought is the thermostat is in wrong, make sure the spring is towards the BLOCK...and also replace the radiator cap, if it lets the system build this much pressure, it no good, You don't wanna know the other possiblity!
If the thermostat is OK check the head gasket!
Do a radiator pressure test, along with the tool comes directions to test the head gasket! Most places like Autozone will let you borrow the tools!

I know the thermostat is in correctly because it will only fit one way in the housing. I am replacing the radiator myself today and then will get it pressure tested after...is that how you diagnose a blown headgasket? Im selling it right now and thats all I need.

Unfortunatly , yes! you attach a cooling system tester then start the car and see how fast pressure builds...
