Good morning,

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, V8 Quadra Drive. 67,530 miles on it, not driven that much obviously. The other day my air bag light and transmission light came on at the same time, and when I took off from a stop light it seemed to be in a higher gear than it should be in. When I stopped at the next light the vehicle died. After a few minutes it started back up, but the two lights remain on, and it seems like its not in 1st gear. I checked the transmission fluid and the levels are ok. Any Idea of what the issue may be? How much it would cost to fix it? Thanks for your time! Just looking for general ideas on the problem I may be facing.

I went ahead and took the Jeep to my local Chrysler dealership. Unfortunately they told me it would be a week before they could take a look at it. Anyone on this website happen to have any insight as to possibilities that may be causing this sudden problem?

Hello all,

Well it turns out that the problem I was having was due to a faulty crankshaft sensor. The local dealer here charges 225.00 for the install. Not sure but I doubt that includes the price of the part.

Hopefully this will help someone out who may be browsing the internet looking for answers.
