Engine Cooling problem
2000 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 70k miles

Looses coolant. Have to refill the resevoir every 1-2 weeks. replaced the water pump and also did a pressure test. Oil does not appear to have water in it.
At start up, oil pressure reads 40+ at highway speeds/rpms, then gradually drops to 20-30 psi (dash gauge) at same rpms as engine warms. After warm up, at idle, the check gauges light comes on and the oil pressure gauge can be observed to fluctuate around 10 and then suddenly fall to zero.

Mine has the same problem. The oil pressure is low after the motor warms up and goes to 0 at idle. I am also loosing water and have no external leak. The water does not seem to be getting in to the oil. I do not know if these two problems I have are related to each other or not. I can tell you from my own experience what will probably not work for you. Changing the sending unit, although a cheap repair and the best starting point, did not work in my case. The check with an external guage confirmed 0 at an idle. Changing the oil pump made no difference. Let me know if you find a solution and I will do the same. Here is a link to my question:
