My cherokee will start and run just fine, then the volt gauge will peg out to 19. Usually runs around 14. and the check guage light comes on. When I turn the jeep off it won't start back up. There's no clicking or turning of the engine. No interior or dash light work either. I can jump it but it won't idle by it's self until you drive it for a few blocks. This started when I installed a xm tuner to my sony aftermarket cd player. I will uninstall the xm this week to see if that helps. Any other help would be great.

Take that player out and see what happens if it continues have the regulator checked out-its not controlling the alternator output instead its overcharging the system at that voltage 19 volts

Took the satelite tuner out. And the same thong. Messed with the battery, tightening cables and got the interior lights and chimes to work. Tried to start, heard clunk then nothing no interior lights or chimes. Also the positive battery post and cable are warmer then the negative. Bad battery or regulator?

Get the battery load tested if okay could be a short somewhere in the electrical system. In addition for the clunk could be the starter, starter relay, park/neutral switch and ignition switch
